Mumbai, July 22 — He has got rave reviews for his performance in DDay. But not many know that while shooting for the film, Arjun Rampal had another job to take care of. He had turned translator for the action directors, who were working on the film.
The Nikhil Advani film had three action directors, but all of them had very different accents when it came to conversing in English. “So while Tom Struthers has an Australian accent, John Street speaks with a thick British accent and Guru Bachan, with a Punjabi one. So although they worked in tandem beautifully, Arjun often found himself translating for the action team, whenever it would become an issue,” says an insider from the sets.
Very often, it would become a major source of entertainment for everyone. “But all of them had a great time while working on the film. Arjun ended up being the translator because most of the time he would be talking about some action sequence with one of the stunt directors,” says the insider.
Tom and John have worked on Hollywood films such as The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Blood Diamond (2006), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Inception (2010), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). “Arjun spent a lot of time with them because it was a dream come true for the entire cast to work with such stalwarts,” adds the insider.
